Southern Alamance forfeits football victories

September 4, 2008
By Charles Alston of North Carolina

From staff reports
Burlington Times News

BURLINGTON - Alamance-Burlington School System officials confirmed Wednesday that Southern Alamance High School must forfeit both of its football victories this season due to use of an ineligible player.

The Patriots scored a 29-14 victory against Cummings on Aug. 22 and defeated Western Alamance 6-0 on Aug. 29.

As a result of the forfeits, Cummings moves to 2-0 and Western Alamance is 1-1. It is the first time the use of an ineligible player has affected the outcome of an area game since Williams had an 18-15 loss against Roxboro Person overturned last season.
